I am attracted to the work of Egon Schiele on several levels, after befriending and studying with Klimt, he had a pervasive effect on the explosion of interest in intimate and erotic art in the early 20th Century.

Briefly imprisoned for "Exhibiting erotic drawings in a place accessible to children", both Schiele's work and his lifestyle were topics of heated discussion in the artistic communities of his day, and lead the way for others to experiment with the Erotic in their work as part of the Art Nouveau Movement.

Tragically we lost Egon at age 28 along with his wife Gertrude in the Spanish influenza pandemic of 1918.

I am  also attracted to the work of Egon Schiele because of the anger, confusion, and gender identity questions I sense in his works as reflected in the many self portraits he composed.
